Kalabham is prepared by using edible camphor (pachakarpooram), saffron (kumkumapoovu), and sandal (chandanam). These three ingredients are ground to a paste form using panineer (rose water) to make kalabham. Kalabham is then poured into a kalasam (earthen pot). After offering pooja to kalasam, abhishekam is performed to the deity.
